Tonight we are pleased to honor a Putnam Valley business which was started

with a very simple goal – and one which could not be more important:

to save lives:

Protective Safety Training

The company’s owner, Mike Lantz, has been a Putnam Valley resident since

January 2011.  Since then, he and his wife Jennifer have welcomed a daughter,

now 3 years old, and a son, now 8 months.  Putnam Valley is the town they have

chosen to raise their family and to call home.

Mike has been involved in public safety since the mid 90's as an EMS field

provider certified at different levels as well as a certified EMS educator.  In

January of 2007, he became a police officer.  In January of 2008, he founded

Protective Safety Training as a small home-based business providing on-site

CPR, defibrillator and first aid training.  The company offers various levels of

training, from quick, informal CPR awareness sessions to full certification

courses delivered directly at the clients' location, and on their schedule.  Low to

no-cost training has also been delivered to non-profits and community groups

and is available at appropriate community events.

Mike states that, as a public safety professional, all too often he would respond

to 911 calls for a critically sick or injured party where there were bystanders on

hand – but who were apprehensive to help due to lack of training. And that is

most unfortunate, as bystanders, when empowered with simple, straight forward,

easy to obtain knowledge and skills, can double, or even triple a victim's chance

of survival by intervening prior to the arrival of first responders.

Lay rescuers are  an important link in the chain of survival and,

if trained, can make the difference between life and death.

The more people who are trained as lay rescuers – the

 safer the community becomes.

Protective Safety Training prides themselves on their cadre of experienced

public safety professionals who bring their decades of experience into the

classroom, office, home, or other location, to deliver informative, engaging and

effective course instruction allowing students to prepare for tomorrow … today.

Whether personal or corporate, whether to be better prepared for an emergency

or to meet a job training requirement, those interested in this type of training

need look no further than Protective Safety Training.

We are delighted to recognize Protective Safety Training as Putnam Valley’s

Business of the Month, and we congratulate the company's owner,

Mike Lantz, for his important work in making our community a safer place.
